Part V — The Expedition

Wonder

Children experience wonder naturally.

Adults often need help remembering it.

That may be one of the greatest gifts exploration offers.

It reminds us that amazement is still possible.

A whale taking a breath.

A mobula ray leaping across the surface.

The silence beneath the sea.

The Milky Way stretching across the night sky.

None of these moments ask anything from us except our attention.

Wonder is not something we create.

It is something we notice.
